Show us your 700C ATB / MTB / Hybrid

This one’s a bit of a mashup, so thought it might belong here: home made ‘Callisto’ based on a surprisingly sweet 531CS British Eagle tourer frame from the mid 80s. Kooky Modolo rocky cantis are intriguing; mix of XT and suntour for forward progress. 23lb & pretty nippy.

One of the first bikes (even the color!) that came to mind thinking of switching to early 90 hybrides to collect. The mid-range early 90 mtb's are just a bit on the small side every time.
The kind of bikes I walked past in the shops in those days en-route to look at the mountain bikes, early 29ers, pseudo gravel bikes, call them what you want but I can see the potential in them now - long top tube - 23 inches on the 20 inch size. Way longer than my equivalent cross bike. Tubes are crude cro-mo but it rides well and I love the skinny looks.

This is my 91 Miyata Triplecross. I bought this as a frame and built it mostly with bits out of my parts bin/stripped off an old Kuwahara I grabbed from the transfer station as an attempt at a budget gravel bike. Since that original build I bought a short reach nitto stem, swapped the tektro 720's for some black LX early 90's cantis and replaced the wheels with some non-disc HPlus Son 105/Archetype wheels (not in this photo). I ride it on mixed asphalt / hero gravel rides mostly.

I just sold this bike because I bought a Miyata 1000 and they are basically the same bike, but the touring bike rode a bit nicer. I've swapped the cockpit and wheels over to the touring bike.

Seeing this thread has made me join the club!
After eyeing this on Gumtree for a few weeks decided to go for it.
A 1992 Ridgeback 503 Trail. Gives the feeling of a touring frameset.
Originally Shimano LX with DX brakes and shifters. Lost the original shifters but neatly removed from levers and rapid fire fitted. Sadly lost the wheelset, taking with the original owner sounds like the bike shop did not want the problem of trueing possible seized nipples but recommended replacement wheel, rear being fairly unused.
Handlebars had faded but started cleaning of marks with autosol and colour started returning! Pedals, Seatpost clamp mine rather than bolt, nuts and huge washer!

Was really looking for something decent to fit racks/boxes for a working bike but now think it's to good!
Mmm🤔
First picture as obtained, second/third with better saddle and cleaned (greasy cassette and chain not yet tackled) IMG_20230726_093002.jpg IMG_20230729_165938.jpg IMG_20230729_165554.jpg

Romany? Is that a Czech manufacturer?

Ridgeback are a British brand, not sure on the Romany name, but seen it on other Ridgeback hybrids. Possibly to with the road/trail aspect of the Hybrid as in roaming?
