Today is Strathpuffer day!! And yet again I awoke with a sore throat, headache, and snotters . So I decided it best not to ride, but went to spectate, and track down the elusive lesser spotted Jamie & Brian.
I did see them as they *ahem* "ran" to their bikes at the start, and that was the last I saw of them .
It was a lovely sunny, if cold, morning, riders coming back covered in nature's exfoliant after one lap showed it was a trifle muddy out on course .
I hope to be back, and riding it, next year, and I doff my cap to those riders still out there with a full night-shift left to go.
Hello Macretro clan
It has been a while since I posted on here with the usual rides etc but I have been riding. Quite a good bit actually. I have been commuting quite a bit on the cargo bike and have been down riding with Brian on the Jack Taylor and was also out last weekend on the Mercian amongst other local rides. Lots going on and busy with work but trying to make the most of any decent weather. Just happy to be out riding. Hope everyone is doing well and will try and get down south for a ride soon.
Obtained a frame for my inbetween bike with chunky 700c tyres. Not sure what bars it will end up with but planned to sit between my hard tail and Thorn Audax.
Nice comfy steel and should collect wheels early next week
Well a pretty driech day here today and a bit further south and while I managed to get down to Brians the weather sort of dissuaded us from riding but we did make a car journey over to the other side of Nairn to pick up a bike, minus wheels that I had organised earlier in the week.
Perfect size, and complements my other King of Mercia nicely with this one being 653 like my tourer. This is road geometry King of Mercia and is due to be converted to 650b to allow slightly wider tyres. Besides it was a bargain as when I originally enquired about it, it was already a bargain, and then the guy who was selling it said he needed the wheels for another project, I said that was fine and was there any adjustment on the price? He then almost halved what was a bargain anyway so I said I would take it. He held onto it until I was down at Brians and could go pick it up. When we got there it was far better than I was expecting so was well pleased. We thought we then should get out of there and back to Inverness for lunch before the Police stopped us for theft
I got home and dropped my other wheels in to see if there were any surprises and no, all was as smooth. So this will join the project Que.
It is 653 tubing, 21" square, two bottle cage with rack and mudgaurd fittings, 105 shifters, crank, derailleurs, with Miche brakes and levers and a nice Mercian stamped Tange headset. This was the guys fathers bike but was too small for him so was moving it on. He did know it was on the cheap side but wanted it gone and also to a good home if possible, so I will do my best. Will strip it, deep clean it and regrease it next weekend hopefully.
I really like the colour and is what drew me to it, others not so much

Is this the one that was on ebay for ages ? Looks the same spec and colours . If it is , I nearly bought it myself , several times . I hope you like it .
i Dont think it was the same one though there was a similar one but I thought that was down in England. I seen it on marketplace last week when it was first listed. Could have been, though I always look for Mercian in my searches
Either way I am glad I managed to get it and for a great price.
