That's an optimistic front tyre for a bike running triple clamp forks!
Like the classy black and silver Marin frame and forks though.

Said Kona Jim ?

I nearly made it into the modern world, but pipped at the post.

Then the forks, and inevitable weird headset fun, and new built wheels. Saved myself there

Looks a beast of a bike that does, will take you well into the modern world indeed.
When I was in Germany back in the summer it was a hardtail 29'er Bergamont that I was riding in the Hartz mountains and it came very very close to converting me to a proper lightweight modern mtb, almost ;)

You’re the second person to point that out! It’s a second hand bike (basket case) and has some Minions to go on, but I couldn’t force them on the rim without tyre levers.

Re:

Been to see Hans "No Way!!" Rey doing his "Riding Life " Tour in Aberdeen today.
Got to meet the man himself, and naturally had to get my retro GT shirt signed by him :D

Well worth a couple of hours of your time to see his talk.

Sounds like it would be a really interesting talk, legend.
Nice to get the jersey signed too.
