Show me your.....Funks

Officially dibbed! Can’t see ever getting my hands on it though as what’s not to like? Where’s the other one then? Even a progress shot would be nice...

NOS Panaracer Magics – impulse purchase but I’m really pleased with them. Just need to find the Paul brake buddy’s & powerglide mechs and we’re finished (maybe…) but any spare cash is going to the ‘dale at the moment.

Its a 1994 FUNK Force GS Neill....actually somewhat rarer than the Pro Comp/Durango ......if not as good looking.

Caspar.....progress amounts to a box of bits at that moment. Pretty sure I know which way I am going with both of my builds though. Both will be subtle monochrome affairs (black, silvers etc) but the group sets will be very different. The Force will be home to my NOS XC Pro kit....whereas the Durango is going to be kitted out with the usual smattering of overpriced American bling that you would expect. :xmas-cool:

Ok, thanks, was hoping for an ASF as I've never ever seen one in the flesh. Not too many Force's around though so well done for finding one :)

My barn find as I got it. 1992 Pro Comp with very low miles; apparently just 8 rides. Currently stripped down completely, and I'm a bit undecided whether to do a stealth / industrial build (which I think suits this frame) or let it go.

Wow...a small bike that was previously ridden by a really tall person (Layback seatpost + 150+mm stem)

Love it, although I'd get horribly twitchy if I gave my missus a bike with NOS kit.

Without going into the man-cave to check, pretty sure it's 19" c-t. Looks a bit weird with the saddle down and the stem up like that in the picture, but otherwise it's got those hallmarks of a fast MTB for the epoch with stretched out arse up head down position. Previous owner was a self-confessed roady around 5ft 11" - I'm 5ft 10" with monkey long arms and it felt spot on.

The bars are USE which are pretty darn straight with no sweep so the whopping 150mm stem makes up for them. Lay-back posts are also about the saddle type - old Turbo and Rolls saddles which came from the road world just don't perch right on an inline post as they were pretty much supposed to be used with a Campagnolo Record seat-post; extreme example is a Brooks B17 on an in-line post which is just plain wrong and makes me sick to the stomach.

I'm not sure if it was actually fully built in the USA or in Sweden but's it's pretty high spec. There's a mix of US exotica like Chris King, Answer and Ringlé. Hubs, transmission and brakes are Shimano - mainly XTR M900 but with XT 7 speed thumbies with the 8th click, pedals, brake levers, and a "never seen before" 3DV anodised XTM730 crank. Then some UK USE 3DV bars and bar ends, a very crap and heavy Zoom Cro-Mo seat-post, quality Italian Turbo saddle and wonderfully skinny Wolber AT18 rims finished off with quality Japanese 2.00 Panaracer Smoke and Dart. You can see on the front wheel no anodising has come off the braking wall.

Right.... it's time we added something to this as I can think of at least five of you with Funks lurking in your man caves ;) Here's mine.....

Whereabouts in Somerset are you? I've got to see that in the flesh someday!
