got fed up of not having anything to just putter about on and remembered that I had a bike in my granddads shed that I was given years ago, looks like crap (like all my other bikes) but works apart from it needing 2 innertubes its all good. ill get a pic of it later, but I want to see your beater bikes, post a picture up... im sure somebody has a crappy bike like me

just had new innertubes, apart from that its all mechanically sound, nothing thats ever going to get nicked.

95 kona aa. Been left locked in some of the worst bits of Bristol. Always there when I come back.

i am lucky that i don't need a beater bike, and by that i mean that i don't ever have to lock a bike anywhere, it's at home or in the van on the way to ride somewhere but a few years ago i started riding to work in the summer for nightshifts, that's when i built what i considered a beater, an old Orange aluminium O, random mix of parts but it rode well. i liked it too much and restored it and that was my last beater!

so the problem became, buy something to build as a beater, realise i like it, then restore it, then realise "i need a beater" that's how i got to having 20 bikes!

the nearest thing i have to a beater now is my 2nd P7, my first is pretty much a factory spec 95 nickel P7 with m737 XT but my 2nd P7 is a 94 nickel powdercoated white and built with mostly m739 XT, it rides really well and as it's powdercoated i am happy getting it covered in mud etc without worrying about the nickel plating getting ruined like i was with the other one.

:)

The Hawk Trakatak
The triple triangle version was the nicest variant to be so badged but its the same frame as used by Apollo for its triple triangle so mass built in some far east factory.
I love these old heaps, though most folk on here would only use them as barge anchors

Mines an early 90s Marin EG. It had been left outside for 20 years by previous owner ( his wife clearly wore the pants) , components were semi scrap DX/XT. Use it to carry my kid about and for training but it's been impossible to stop upgrading it and now its restored with full period XT   rides like a dream too. Keep thinking il chop it for an early Team but then the Fats won't feel as special to ride.

im really liking it so far, so much so im considering just using it as my everything bike, was just going to ride it to its death but its so good so far. im now asking my mate to sell me his one even though its too small for me
my one is the perfect size for me, hauls me heavy butt around fine with loaded panniers too. cant believe i let it sit in my grandads shed for ages, should of gotten it out sooner. i dont care what other members think of my bikes frankly. theyre my bikes, im the one riding them so sod what anyone else thinks

I Always had a second bicycle for winter weather. It is a chinese scandium frame with all the bits from my other bicycles so it is a Franken-bike perfect for mud and raining days or for commuting.
