Just after some info on them. Currently on a 91 kona lava dome.
How easy is it to rebuild them with new internals. Will they be elastomers and would it be worth the time.

Re:

Dead easy, just elastomers. I used some left over Pace elastomers in my last set, but as they are basically Manitou copies you might find Manitou elastomers will fit too. I can’t remember how many elastomers are in them, it’ll be a Case of open them up and see whats in there.
Or find some suitable springs.
It might be worth it if you can find some elastomers that don’t cost the earth.

Re:

Any chance you could give me some info on how to split them apart.
One thing I've never done is repairing forks or service them.
Apart from the elastomers being toast they will clean up quite nice

Suspension fork parts .net have Manitou manuals for download

Check em out - they are free and offered as a shop window in the hope you buy their elastomers

There is an Eastern European guy on here selling elastomers that work - worth having a look in the for sale section - they actually work very well

You can use elastomers from Manitou 1 or Pace forks.
They have 4 main elastomers, and a smaller top out elastomer. The top out one usually lasts ok and I have not needed to find a replacement.

There was a special long Alan key supplied with the forks, but if you have a 1/4 drive socket on an extension that will do fine. Make sure your Alan key is located properly, as in give it a tap with a hammer to get through the crap/rust/molten elastomer.
Be patient, if it doesn't feel good, give it some penetrating fluid and plenty of time. The bolts have probably not been moved for 25 years.

What to expect inside....

This pair I have experimented with some Ti coil springs as well as some elastomers, there is plenty of room to experiment in these forks.

Here is a manual uploaded...

Regarding how good they are, well, for a very old elastomer fork, they are ok, assuming they are set up for your weight, and don't have too much play in the bushes.
They look good, are not too heavy and don't flex too much,.considering they come from a time when suspension was either crap or slightly better than crap.

What colour are yours, Gold or silver??

They did a Pace-a-like one too with carbon lowers.

I have a set of prototype carbon forks, with part carbon stanchions that didn't go into production. They are quite nice.
