I just don't see how the bike manufacturers will be able to sell you a bike for 2000$ when you can just get the 800 version, change cassette and shifter, and voilá, your 9 speed is now an 11!
Charge $1000 for cassettes.

Because the vast majority of bikes in the world run HG free hubs I guess. Only people who want 12sp and are prepared to pay for it don't use HG on the whole.and why not make them all microspline. Why bother with the old HG.
