shimano mineral oil, atf?

Can atf (automatic transmussion fluid) be a half price alternative to shimano mineral oil?

It seems to be same viscosity and colour.

People have used citroen lhm as an alternative, been googling that, and if that conplies to same standards as halfords atf (devron i and ii), the answer would be yes.

Probably, but the legit Shimano stuff doesn't exactly break the bank.

I started looking into alternatives when I needed some recently but decided I'd rather pay for Shimano stuff and have zero worries about whatever I used not being the best thing for the job.

I've done about 5 brakes now and I'm only just dipping below the 1litre mark on the side of the bottle now.

True, (16.18 vs 7,99) just that i have 3/4 litre of ATF i am unlikely to use, unless i can find a way to drain the PAS system.
