Shimano Bashguard Fitting Problem

I have a black Shimano polycarbonate Bashguard that I am trying to fit to some Deore Cranks. Unfortunately every time I tighten the chain ring bolts, they pull through the holes in the Bashguard. In fact I can push them through by hand. I have tried different makes of chainring bolts including shimano with the same result.

Should there be a fitting kit?

Mine has a series of stainless top hats in the bash guard.

No idea. They are loose fitting, so not obviously part of the bash guard. If it's second hand, the original owner might not even have realised!

Y-1KG98040 appears to be the part number, the top hats are part of the bolt kit, not the bash ring.

Had this problem myself, some FSA chainring bolts have larger head, or maybe just some washers?
