Shed Security - Bast**ds almsot got away with it

can frames have trackers fitted, similar to car trackers? i'd hate it if i were done over. my nice bike lives in the house but there's still a fair wedge in the shed.

Carrying on the booby trap theme
My mate superglued razor blades to the back of his car radio/cassette (was a while ago)

Thief did indeed try to yank it out and blades did what they do best

Cost him a small fortune though getting the blood cleaned from the carpet and seat

Cass,
you said yourself " If determined enough they'll get in. " Fair point, however, what you're aiming to stop is the " fvckwit " to " lightly-tooled up semi pro. " The professional will follow and time you, then go in with all the tools. The former will sh1t themselves and peg it at the sound of an alarm and that's what you're after.
People should stop conning themselves about insurance ( which is nice but won't stop the buggers ) and MOO-HASSIVE anchor points. A guy recently had all his ti bikes ( anchored ) chopped up for scrap and parts.
Don't forget to put warning signs about your anti-theft measures incase the little fvckers sue you for injury compo.

I have an internal safe room in my garage thats also locked, and plan to install ground ancors, i don't even like giving the wife the key.

Bike thieves are scum i have lost a few bikes to them over the years. The other week someone mentioned that they had seen some blokes looking at the bikes at the train station where i park my 97 rockhopper communter. It only cost £110 but its locked up with an Oxford products motor bike lock, a Kryptonite New York D lock and a Kryptonite forgetaboutit chain and mini D lock, total value of the locks is £200.

I think bike thieves target you, they follow you home so they know where you live and come back for your pride and joy, or get your address from crooked bike shops. When i lived in Sheffield lots of bikes got nicked just after they had been bought from a local shop, too many in my mind for it to be coincidence, my Patriot was one of them :-(

All bike thieves should die a grim death, try digging a mote around your shed and filling it with crocs or get one of those food boxes big enough for a bike they use in the states to stop bears eating your supplies

make sure the hinges are as secure as they can be. years ago, we invested in a bomb-proof padlock only to find they'd just removed the screws from the hinges & about 3 grands worth of bikes! - DOH!

i always use a countersink to drill the top of the screws out so they cant be undone as its such an obvious security flaw,it takes 2 mins to unscrew the hinges and as you say,it doesnt matter how big the padlock is....

But a hinge designed around a screw mounting usally has a poxy hinge pin that can be easy tapped out :(

I bought better hinges which use coach bolts and put three on mounting them through the battons on the back of the door with penny washers to spread the load.

The trouble is its still wood mounted :( but I stongly believe its not about stopping them it's all about slowing them down and hopefully putting them off ...
