Serotta T-Max 1991? Tri fade

So, I’m writing this retrospectively as I have one eye on BOTM. Sure it won’t win but more to share the end result.

I have a black 1992 T-Max which is a fantastic bike but it’s an 18 inch and I find it slightly small for me. So when this tri fade frame came up in Germany at a decent price I thought I’d go for it.

Sure the paint is ratty and it’s had a harder life than some but despite that the colours are still very distinct. For me this is one the iconic frame colours of the1990s.

I need to find a fork and I’ll build it with early 90s parts.

As the frame came without its original Columbus max fork and chances of finding one in the same colour way were virtually nil I needed to choose a different fork.

I tried a manitou 1, manitou 2, Rockshox Mag 20 but settled on a Tange Switchblade

So this is going to be my rider which I already love. It was never going to be a beauty queen so I kept the build simple and with what I had in the shed.

The tange fork looks pretty good to me and the slim nature of the legs sit well with the narrow columbus tubes.

Amazing frame. Always wanted one, but way out of my league in terms of price. I think that was the colourway MBUK had on test? Bet you that rides lovely!
