Are the Sram X9 triggers compatible with a shimano cassette or Sram stuff only?

Just an update on possible route for me, head west young man!
Canada / USA - Mid April 2012 Spring/Summer - Quebec (via Vermont, Portland) > Salt Lake City > San Francisco
New Zealand - Late Aug/Sept 2012 Spring/Summer - Christchurch > Christchurch
Australia - Mar 2013 Autumn/Winter - Sydney > Perth
Africa - July 2013 Winter/Spring/Summer - Cape Town > Tunis
Europe / UK - May 2014 Summer - Palermo > Caen
That should keep me out of harms way for 2 years and a bit! Trying to keep seasons in check, makes life a lot easier. Don't wish to arrive back to Europe for a winter! :-/
