I can't begrudge somebody asking a top price for some bit they've preciously tucked away for a decade.
There are very few parts I'm going to pay top dollar for simply because there is no real need. There are numerous alternatives to almost every part. If you are focused on a particular item in immaculate condition then it is your own inflexibility that is at fault.
At the opposite end of the spectrum if you are patient and open to a variety of options then you can come across some very nice deals on some top quality parts.
Some brands seem to go for more money than they should simply because the brand name is popular. Grafton brakes seem to go for crazy money but I don't think they are so much better than options that often go for a fraction of the price.
These Grafton's were a recently listed number with a BIN of $200. They weren't on my watch list more than a few hours before somebody pulled the trigger. Should they have BIN'd it at $300? Hell yes!

If I put forth the effort to hit garage sales and flea markets I'm sure I could find a better deals than what I can poach off eBay.
