I need a camera for a shop. But there isn’t any WiFi or landline sockets.

Anyone know if such a thing exists?

I need one that doesn’t need WiFi (maybe has its own 3G connection but can be plugged in to a 3 pin plug.

It needs to record ideally and be accessible from a phone.

If it needs to be accessible remotely then you'll need some sort of Internet connection. You could use a 4/5G router with a data SIM to provide that (something along these lines https://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-TL-MR100-Wireless-Supports-Encryptions/dp/B0DNY31JRD )

I’m not sure a phone is ideal as that would likely go missing.

Our card terminal has its own SIM card , so I kinda thought someone would make a standalone camera which works in the same way.

Could perhaps use powerline adapters and an ethernet based camera? Not a camera expert by any means but with no wifi that'd be my first port of call since powerline uses the existing electrical wiring to send data.

Just use something like this as an access point and then you have a choice of which camera and setup to go with.

Or you can buy a camera with a sim: https://reolink.com/blog/sim-card-security-cameras-buying-guide/

I've never used one though, just search for IP camera with sim card or maybe somebody will come along who knows more about such things. I didn't even know these cameras existed until just now but I've never needed one.

I’ve actually got Reolink ones at home but didn’t know they did one with a SIM so that could be ideal.

The alternative is to obviously put WiFi in the shop and then use one of my existing cameras but the shop is on a temporary lease so I don’t want to commit to a ongoing contract

I have had a swan CCTV unit with nice big hard drive set up in my garage for about 10 years which runs 4 cameras around the garden using Power over Ethernet, and which I dont bother to connect to the Internet. The hard disc records for over a month before it overwrites, so I have plenty of time to review anything I want to look at.

I've got a garmin Dashcam in the shop, size of a matchbox, stores a few days worth to its own memory card and overwrites the oldest if you ignore it.
Needs a USB power supply, and can communicate with your phone.

That’s an interesting idea. So no WiFi or data needed?
