And blowing up a torch would do what ?..........what it the threat ? Why all this talk of terrorism to the bubble......it's security for runners to plod on their merry way relativly unhampered between torch change overs, thier not at the stadium yet.

There is so much paranoia being spread at the monent, if and it's a big if ....a terrorist wanted to detonate thenselves in the crowd they would, they don't need to get that close to the stupid torch to do damage.


I think people are getting very confused between the stadium security and the torch's being run round the country.

Treating small curious children that way is for bullies. Adults if they seem suspicious yes......little kids who just want to join in the fun shouldn't be treated like that in my opinion.

Personally, I see a couple of significant factors, here.

The security people protect the "bubble", when they react, often it has to be split-second - that's all the time they'll get. My understanding is, it's not their procedure to deliberate over it, just deal with it as quickly as possible.

The vast majority of the crowd would have been unimpeded - so far I've seen no evidence of people who were nowhere near the "bubble" or showed no intention of being near the "bubble" being dragged out of the crowd by heavy-handed security jack-booters - but then I could be wrong?

As viewers it looks harsh because it's a kid - true enough. But then if you actually had videos of many scenarios of people of all ages being restrained, showed on a high-profile news site, it would likely appear heavy handed, too.

And yes, I'd agree - as many have said, there's probably countless reasons to disagree with all the pomp and circumstance, too, to say nothing of the cost and legacy. I think that is all secondary, though - there's countless other public events that would likely have a similar security escort.

Well on the other hand, the guy in the riots who was shoved from behind, who later died - that was just undefendable thug-ish behaviour that was totally unnecessary.

I'm not going to go all Dalton on you, from Roadhouse, but they should have asked him to walk, and been nice, if he wouldn't walk, they should have "walked" him, and been nice, and if he still wouldn't go nicely, they should have just arrested him, without the lout-ish desire to hurry him up.
