scott yecora performance series V's Felt Q250

After some opinions so I thought a forum would be a good place to start. I have a Scott Yecora performance series, picked it up from a friend because he'd bought it 2nd hand and not noticed until it was too late that the frame had a 1 inch crack in the head tube.

I have had the tube tig welded and it all looked lovely until I fitted the headset which opened up the weld slightly about (8mm) up the crack not 8mm wide, it's only about 1mm wide at it's worst point.

I have recently purchased from a car boot sale a Felt Q250 frame, it's in lovely condition and although I knew very little about Felt bikes I did know they made some very expensive ones, although the Q250 seems to be in the <£300 area.

My question (finally) is should I keep the Scott with its damaged head tube, or switch everything over to the Felt frame. New I'm sure the Scott was much more than the Felt, but with the damage I'm not 100% I can trust it. Am I really going to notice that I'm on a cheaper frame.

I mainly do XC and larking about on jumps in woodlands, nothing too extreme but defiantly not road riding or commuting.

Any opinions at all welcomed, I doubt I'll find someone who has had both bikes, but I'd be interested to hear what you have to say.

Hi Mark: I'm just a bit undecided whether its a serious question, but,,,,,,,,,

I would say its unlikely anyone would say its fine to ride a bike with a cracked headtube. You've kind of answered it yourself.

Why not build the Felt and see if you can get a right fix for the Scott. At least you'd have a ridable and safe bike in the meantime.

Crack

I guess I was kinda asking how serious a tiny crack could be, I've never broken a frame or had any experience of them.

I'll take a photo of the frame with something in shot so you can see the size of the crack.
