Saw my dream bike on Craigslist this week.

It is a handbuilt steel Brodie hardtail - expresso. Its been professionally repainted and (unfortunately) converted to a single speed. Totally out of my price range - $1100 - but oh, would I love to have that bike in my garage. There is a lovely DeKerf hardtail there too - no wheels, but I could sort that out easily. It sucks being poor.

It is over priced. I has cheap single speed parts and a $200 paint job.
There are better Brodies for a lot less. I paid a third of that asking price for my last Brodie. And my came with Gator Blades!
The DeKerf has been on sale for months! The guy is now asking for $650. It has no wheels, fork could be damage and who knows what the condition the rest is in.
If save some money, sell some of your spare parts and get lucky on craigslist. There deals locally. In the last month a Kona Hei Hei for $250 and a RM Titanium for $800. Every week I can find at least one high end old school bike going for a good deal.
Yes, I know who got the Kona bike and he paid $400 at the end.

I agree, that Brodie is not a good deal. keep looking, good ones come up for better price. Good luck. Now I wish I saw the Hei Hei.
