My main concern with what you have rightly written is that if changing the law i.e. access rights, is shown to benefit the country finacially, do you think the government will stand in the way?

It is the law.. there is a process.. even changing the law to accommodate the desires of a few forest owners isn't a 5-minute job..

I signed the petition a week or so ago and would prefer (I think) that they not be sold since it sounds like a bad idea.

And still there are arguments FOR selling them off.. couple of my hunting chums approached their tutors (they are at places like Sparsholt) who suggest it could be the best thing for them..

And banks have just had some restrictions placed on them if what I overheard on the news yesterday was right...

Thank God

But let us hope it is not the usual planning consent tactic of re presenting things after the objectors take their eye off the ball.

One of the other papers (link in the stickied thread in Retro Chat iirc) has a slightly different view..

There's a letter from tintin's MP in there too which makes interesting reading.

Not quite as simple as 'not happening' (as if we'd wholeheartedly believe that anyway)... :?

Here's another thought:

If the new owners decide that either the woods aren't profitable enough and build on top of them or that we pose a danger to ourselves on their paths (sic) and want to lessen the danger, they could always build a nice, safe, straight, tarmac road through from one side to the other and call it a 'right of way...'

It's only a thought...

:? :? :?

Which would incur maintaining... and (probably) planning permission... and a big ol' initial cost I should think too...

That is presuming that the government fail in their promise of maintaining rights of way etc. etc. etc.

Just because someone owns a patch of land doesn't give them the right to do with it as they please.

Well Done Everyone!!!

Looks like the wave of protest from the likes of us on RetroBike does have some clout after all
