Saracen Pro Trax Special Edition build

I wasn't looking for a Saracen or to even start a bike build, but when I saw this lovely frame pop up for sale on here it had to be done.


Whilst waiting for delivery, I acquired some Saracen handlebars, stem, Seatpost and Pedals. I had my fingers crossed that the 26.6 post would be the right size, but sadly a fraction of a mm too big. If anybody knows the correct post size for this it would be a great help as I don't have anything more accurate than a ruler to measure it with. Looks just under 26 to me.


With some borrowed wheels from my RTS and bars and Stem fitted.

I'm leaning towards the black at the moment, despite them not being the Saracen ones I bought specially! Will ride with both and let comfort decide.

One thing that I have noticed is how nice the purple QRs look with the green. So maybe a bit more purple will appear on there. I don't want to over do it though.

I'll update with any further progress/thoughts as I go. In the meantime, any comments are welcome.

So.. It is now finished.


The eagle-eyed amongst you may notice that I have changed the rear derailleur to an XT and the front to an STX-RC.


The not so eagle-eyed will have noticed something else...

Up front we have Titec Hell Bent bars, Deore thumb shifters and XT Brifter levers (minus shifter mounts - I didn't do it).

Just couldn't bring myself to sell the FM in the end. Saracen build is now on hold.
