** Salsa Ala Carte Titanium **

Re:

Cheers! :xmas-big-grin:

yeah, those ti Thomson bars seem to have struck a chord with a few folk!

had my first proper ride on it on Sunday, and found the bars a joy to use after using narrow bars since forever!

Re:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

what do shimano paint these with??

whatever it is it's forking useless!!

ONE ride of about 20 miles has done this, gutted!

i've had old M952 cranks on another bike for years and the paint is still intact!

Re: ** Salsa Ala Carte Ti - niner & whitewalls 18/12 **

Did you turn right a lot?

Re: ** Salsa Ala Carte Ti - niner & whitewalls 18/12 **

maybe those cranks are cheap knock-offs (Shimano generally doesn't cheap out on finish) ...

Re:

lol, no, they're genuine, along with everything else i bought

the finish does seem to be really thin, i sanded the back of the brake caliper mounts to stop them moving when tightening the bolts, was amazed at how easily it rubbed off. I just presumed the cranks would be a little more resilient :?

Re:

ordered up of pair of these DT Swiss M 1700 650b/27.5 wheels today

the frame will take a 27.5 rear wheel no problem, and the forks would take a 29, but i don't like the look of 29 inch wheels, thought these would be a nice compromise

black rims with white and grey graphics and the polished hubs with black accents and spokes should work well too :xmas-cool:

just need to sort out some tyres now, any recommendations?

Re:

the new wheels arrived today!! :xmas-big-grin:

they come with EVERYTHING...... adapters for running QR, adapters for 6 bolt discs, valves, skewers and even tubeless rim tape, all in the box, ready to bolt on if needed (which they are)!

they feel nice and light, only the skewers feel a wee bit weighty not being ti (which the SLR's are), but no complaints otherwise!

logos/decals are very nicely done, looks really classy, and the black accents on the hubs will suit the bike build to a T!

tyres are on the way from CRC....... maybe tomorrow if i'm lucky!!

anyone want to buy a pair of Crossmax SLR 26....?! ;)
