Salsa a la Carte Jellybean

Finished finally.

I must say i'm really happy with how this has turned out. To my eyes its a classic early 90's mtb and beyond that i'd go as far as saying it's a legendary bike.

So may i present my 1991 Salsa ala Carte serial number SM763

I've gone for as period correct, usable build as possible, not too much bling, just good solid kit with flourishes of fancy. I think this is how i would build it for racing BITD, high performance but dependable and bulletproof.

Salsa ala Carte frame with Bontrager Composite fork. Ritchey Logic headset.
Salsa Pro Moto quill stem.
Shimano XT front and rear mechs, seatpost, thumb shifters, cantilevers and pedals.
Cook Bros crankset with matching black Cook Bros wheel skewers.
Syncros handlebar (1991 correct)
Brake levers are Dia-Compe SS5's
Wheels are black Bullseye hubs, a Regina freewheel and Campagnolo Mirox rims. Sitting on Ritchey Megabite Zmax Tanwall 26x2.1 tyres.
The saddle is a repro Turbo Nubuck leather.
Seat qr is a Salsa no logo black lever.

Here's some pictures, although when the sun drops a bit i'll get some better ones.

ride report to follow when a cracked/broken rib heals and i can take it for a proper thrash.

Couple questions: what´s the seatpost diameter? I hear 26.8, 27.0 and 27.2. What´s the length on those bars? 560mm?
Congratulations: it looks perfect. Iconic, transcedental , mountain bike w/ perfect geometry and not as common tubeset. Perfect build from seatpost to hubset w/ my favourite brake levers and xt vintage.

It’s a 27.0mm seatpost. It came to me with a 26.8 but it was a tiny bit loose. So I fitted a 27.0 and it’s perfect. The bars I think are 560mm but I’d need to check. They’re full length uncut whatever length that is.

Cheers
