I was out on an old Holdsworth the other day when a older man, on a equally old BSA, stopped me and began telling me the complete history of the company and frame building in the UK. He told me that there were 5000 frame builders in the UK at one time or another.....such a shame but perhaps inevitable

Oh dear. I have a Holdsworth Italia made by Reg Collard in the early sixties out the back of the Putney shop, and a very nice frame it is too. He went on to make the Holdsworth team bikes one of which is owned by a friend of mine. We were hoping to go on a cycling pilgrimage to the shop at some point; best be quick about it I suppose.

Such a pity to see it go...I could always spot the slightly smarter London cyclists by the 'supplied by Holdsworth' sticker on the end of their rear mudguard.
And the Holdsworth brand seems to have been hoovered up by On-one/Planet X
Other than the v. pricey steel Professional model, they're all boring re-badged carbon stuff now.
