Hi, a quick post to show you one of my current projects. I picked this up before Christmas last year and have only just got round to posting it on here.
As some of you may know I'm a fan of Roy Cottingham's (I own two complete bikes plus another frame: 1985 Chronometro http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=104834 1990 Lo-profile http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=139790 and 1990 Columbus SL http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=172904) so I couldn't pass the by opportunity when this was offered to me via a good friend, in my size too!
It was built in 1993 from Columbus SL with fastback stays, Haden BB shell, Reynolds ends and nice long point head lugs. Braze ons include gear lever bosses, front mech boss, one set of bottle bosses and a race number tag. This also has a concealed rear brake cable. The best feature of this frame for me is the finish - it's been completely chrome plated and a translucent paint applied over the top. The pictures don't really don't do it justice!
I believe that this frame was built by Roy to exhibit at the various shows eg. Harrogate (as was one of my other Cottinghams). The disadvantage with the paint finish is that it chips very easily, because of this it will be a 'Sunday best' bike when built.
The only problem I have now is I'm unsure what to build it up with so I eagerly await your comments and suggestions
