Rourke fixed wheel

Retro Newbie
Thought I'd share an image of my Rourke that I built up back in the early 2000s (still have it and it's a lovely ride)

Very nice. I like the retro-modern look. Clean frame lines devoid of cable clips etc and a classic paint shade.
I admire Rourke bikes and have since they were popular with time trialists in the early ‘80’s. Never had one in my collection.....but there is a vacancy looking to be filled.

Thank you - I picked the frame up pretty cheaply as back in the day they weren't going for much. I think it was re-painted by Argos and was always ear-marked for a fixed wheel. It was fun building it up and it's a bike I think looks great but more importantly rides really well

Any idea when it was built? Looking at it briefly it could be one of Jason's - or possibly a Paul Washington?

From looking at the wrap around seat stay style, that's a Jason build. Paul Washington's were a bit different.

Wasn't it Roger Kowalski that started the full-wrap stays when he was building the 'Stoke' Clive Stuarts - later becoming Brian's shop - and passed the style on to Paul Washington and then Jason? As usual, I could be barking up the wrong tree and if I am, please tell me!

Yes indeed, but from what I've encountered the Paul Washington frames I've seen all had a little more taper section on the wrap around. He also seemed to like using
a seat clamp lug with integrated threads on one side and a recess for the binder bolt for the other. Hilary Stone pointed that out to me. Of course there are always exceptions.

Re:

Thanks you for the great replies - fascinating. From your thoughts about who had built the frame do you have an idea of the approximate date?
I don't have the bike with me at the moment so cannot provide the frame number which would probably answer that question!
