Rossin Prestige Team build

I can't really say as I've never seen it done. It could be an expensive mistake.

Have you tried doing any photoshop layups?

I saw that and I'm a huge fan of fully chrome bikes. I've got few frames that I want chromed as well.

They look fantastic but I don't think it'll work with painted details as the chrome is always reflecting the colour of the surroundings, so it will change colour all the time. Plus the chrome makes the bike look light and sleek, which I think is lovely.

So my opinion full chrome only by a country mile.

EDIT: When they chrome something they have to polish it to a high shine before chroming and any slight blemish has to be filled as the chrome will bring it out, so watch the pantographing as I've seen it polished out before.

All on chroming here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNGrsMgZV5Q

Thanks for that advice, that gives me a problem, If you go back to the start of this thread you will see a dent to the driveside chainstay - will that show?

I would hope whoever i get to do this will not mess it up, and I would be paying enough to ensure that they don't (if that makes sense). If they do mess it up, i have huge kicking boots and i would polish them up before applying them!!!

There are some incredible bikes on that link.

I still like the idea of 'some paint' - more than just the pantos. And, if I did go the chrome with some paint route, the paint would really have to be white to retain a little of the originality of the frame. That would leave me with the thorny issue of decals - white might be lost.

I am starting to swear now as I cannot get this straight in my own mind!!

Have a look at the Murella bike and think of it all chromed with similar decals - i know there is not a lot to see but around the head tube.

It'll look great with those decals as they're dark. My De Rosa is just polished steel and decals and I think it looks pretty good. It's not shiny like chrome, but I don't think you'll lose the decals in the chrome on yours.

Okay, I am close to a decision!!!!!! How many months? Too many.

I will sleep on it, perhaps dream and hopefully not have nightmares.

Thanks again,

Richard

p.s. to be resumed tomorrow ...............

Hi Richard,

i sold you some campagnolo pedals through LFG and you told me to come visit this forum, and straight away some advice.

I had my Merckx fully rechromed, and i really like it, but wouldn't advise it.
first of all, clear coat does not grip on chrome.
secondly, the small gap at your seatpost bolt and where the chainstays meet the BB shell can not be polished very well, although it's not really visable, still annoying if the rest of the bike makes you blind with shinyness.

i paid €270 for rechroming my frame and fork.

cheers, Bram

ps: go check out my Merckx timetrial ;-)
