Waitrose sell the lovely Bunderberg, but they also sell a traditional (english?) variety in big bottles, which I personally enjoy more.

Can anyone confirm the MaccyD's still sell it in some restaurants? I've not seen it on a menu for years, mind, ive only been in once this year.

I tried the real american stuff recently, fortunately for me I react badly to high fructose corn syrup so I can no longer go near most american crap/food. Evil stuff.

You can buy the american a&w root beer on line..
Very expencive but tastes so good..

Got a good stock from asda till my a&w arrives..
After the sixth can it tastes better.

Especially when your other half hates the smell....

I think when McDonalds was first in the UK they sold it (it would be the early 80s, when McDonalds arrived in my home town, think they sold it then) - I can't remember ever seeing it available in recent times though.

What does it taste like - what's the nearest thing normally sold in the UK that it's like? All this furore is making me think I need to try it.

Is it a Marmite thing - you either love it or hate it?

I've heard the TCP thing before - don't think I've ever tried root beer, though - of if I have it was only once, probably a good couple of decades ago.
