RockShox identification

I'm confused (and be honest, not very well prepared),
I have this fork and without any knowledge I wanted to 'raise' it.
Opened up the caps, only to find out that one of them (the left side) did not pssshhhhttt when I air-pumped it.

This fork, this color and the possibility for cantilvers is an old one (presumebly early 90's?)
In those days suspension only with elastomers?

What type is it and can it be serviced?
RockShox Quadra 5, 10, 21?
RockShox Mag?

I think it's a 93 Mag 10 (possibly 92 Mag 30, but the crown looks like a newer one). These products were for the most identical, RS just changed the product name from Mag 30 to Mag 10 when introducing also the Mag 21. The 30/10 did not have adjustable damping, while the 20 and 21 had this.

Quadras have similar lowers and upper + crown as the Mag, but have elastomer internals instead of air/oil.

It can be serviced, but you will need some tools, a manual, and a few beers.

I've collected the beers, now what? 😉
Seems to be an air/oil fork with pretty specialistic knowledge and tools for service.
Maybe I'll swap for a rigid fork.
Thanks anyway.

Here's the manual.

Seems actually there are some small differences between the Mag 30 and Mag 10 internals. The 30 was designed by a clever engineer, very few parts, while the 10's designer doubled the number of parts..........

May then require slightly different procedures, but nothing out of the ordinary I guess.

That diagram is the valving and not just the top cap. the 93 gain negative springs.
The fork is a 1993 model mag 10, the legs and brace tell you that, crown is appropriate to and will be original.

The 30 switch to a 10 numbering, as far as I know was because people found people thought 30 was better than 20
Yes 92 and 93 the 10/30 did not have an adjustable damper.

Needle punp in the region of 40PSI to test the air valves, if it leaks, make, buy get some new air valves.
Oil change is easy, messy of course ;-)

Seals and bushings at bit more of an arse, depending on how much of an arse the fork wishes to be.
And can be messy if doing it DIY.

For some odd reason there was a package delivered to my house.
And hey presto, I found this exact same fork in it. (it is the exact same one)
After a little check on the bits I found this number, I swear I had a bookmark for RS fork serials somewhere but cleary I don't.
Is this a 91? #178477

Might have a different crown as there was a product recall of the square edged one iirc.

That's for the MAG20/30 series and anything build of that (spesh forks in another recall iirc)

Oddly it's for a bright nickel finish and not the dull bronze finish. It reads as referring to the fork itself, but it must be the crown finish as that's the bit the allegedly cracked.. (OK mine did too but hey)
Though they could be referring to the change of colour between the MAG20/30 series to the mag21/10 series.
Never did know.

One tick.... It's for forks with serials 27266 through 158841
Hence you cannot read years from them back then.
