Roberts closing down

I am not surprised - can't be selling much at his prices.

Having a steel road frame and calling it a Master is also pretty unimaginative.

Doubt if it's anything to do with falling sales.

Prices merely reflect the fact that they are (one of) the very best makers out there

Will be a sad day indeed if they dont resurface

Why would anyone close a thriving business? There is a lot of competition much of which I saw at Bespoked in Bristol a week or so ago.

I am not questioning the quality of Roberts Frames, I use to ride one daily twenty years ago.

Perhaps he has made so much money he is retiring?

Re:

There can be other reasons... e.g. potentially health or family issues which might necessitate a small business to take a short break (or indeed close for good). I've no information in this case, but just for balance.

Re:

That's true, though I've never bought anything directly from Roberts (nor indeed manufactured within the last 20 years).

Sad news...

Apparently he is going over the channel to restore a traditional French barn and might consider only building a small batch of frames a year, all I've heard though...
