RO Harrison Frame ID Help!

I've recently got a Harrison frame and I would like to identify it.

It has a serial number of 301030 on the bottom bracket and steerer which, if the hypothesis on this page is correct http://www.classiclightweights.co.uk/harrison.html, may mean its from March '41 or '51 (Thinking more '51..?)

If and one has an idea of the model and whether it was geared or SS that would be ace. (Bit of a newbie with this!)

Hi, bit of an inbetweener this one, the dropouts and frame fittings look pre war and the fork looks post war. I would come down on 1941, as I can't see Harrison using that dropout in 1951. Whether it used gears is down to the dropout distance 110mm and it was a sturmey or fixed, if it is 115mm or greater they used 3 or 4 gears, as for model, I wouldn't have a clue, but it is not at the top of Harrison's range, just below. Judging by the headbadge I would say 51 but the rear dropouts don't look Harrison at all same with the eyelets on the rear stays. Check out the VC-C for a marque specialist on Harrison. Can't remember his name but really helpful.

This is my 1935 R O Harrison dropout. Think they're Chater Lea, everything else is.

Thanks all. Got in contact with someone who seems to be in the know and dated it march 1940 which is quite exciting. Looking to be 4 speed.

It is always good to see another RO Harrison, and it seems that no two frames are the same. Your frame has a distinct character that will build into a great bike. There are some brochures at http://veterancycleclublibrary.org.uk/l ... action.y=0 and they may help to identify your frame. When trying to identify mine I found that the frame angles helped me to identify mine in a brochure. A Google search for photos also helped me in the identification.

Your frame has a very interesting badge on the head tube, with an oval shape. The badge on my 1950 Meteor is star shaped.

March 1940 sounds good! Someone on here is R O Harrison's great grandson. Love the star headbadge but oval not seen many of. Any chance or a closer picture?

Yes,that's me... My grandma is his daughter. She hasn't seen one for years, so trying to get this built up before her 90th this year!

Distance between the dropouts looks about 120mm... So that would be 4/5 speed? I've been told 5 speed would be unlikely for the time, would it likely that the dropouts may have been bent apart over the years?

3-4 speed Sturmey Archer or Cyclo derailleur if you can find one, would be ok for 120mm.

Ahh it is you! I recognise the name now and 90th wow. Would be worthy getting a few Harrison's together.
