 thanks, sure i'll post some of the BB and seattube area this weekend, i also have a 1988 SCOTT SAWTOOTH that i'll be posting some pictures of

why the eye roll; it's great; just gave a little feedback about the brake levers. As for the pic request, just like looking at fillet brazed goodness.
no nothing like that , it's looking up at your reply.lol,as for the brake levers ? not sure , i need to see if theres any stamping on them.

oh...cool

the brake levers look to be Deore XT, and perhaps m730 or m732; they made a shorter two finger lever in 91 or 92. I might be off, by a bit.

why the black top cap, brazed stub in the fork?
on the handlebar stem? no bolt under there , and the fork is straight thru, today was the first time i looked at it,and i have had the bike for a few months now , all i have done is some minor touch up and a good detailing on it

not sure what brand or year the stem is with the cable pulley set-up.,anyone know ?

Salsa made a "pro-moto" quill that had the cable guide pulley wheel, but it was a quill stem. The stem you have on there is obviously not a quill, but it could be one of their "custom" stems. The handlebar clamp area does not look like an 80's salsa stem though, with it's cutout where the screw threads through. So it's either a Salsa stem or salsa knock-off, and probably from the late 80's.

As for the fork, if you could unbolt the stem from the fork steerer, and let us have a look, that would be cool. I'm thinking it has a quill adapter, like the mid-80's Ritcheys used with the bullmooose (twin-strut) handlebar.

ha ! it is a Salsa ,now that you have said that when i brought the bike home and was cleaning it up a oval shape decal was barely sticking on the stem,as i try to unfolded it i noticed it was faded but said salsa with picture of a pepper! i peeled it off and threw it away ,Dang it! but it looked like crap anyway. way to go GoldenEraMTB! you are correct! thanks for the info, i'll unbolt the stem and take a pic this weekend,it's def not a quill ,because i popped the cap off and i could see all the way thru the stem and fork to the top of the tire

ok guys ,not great close up pictures but here ya go ! the stub in top of fork & Shimano brake lever, sorry had to post in single post due to size..
