Rigid fork and better shifters for 90s Rockhopper

Looking for a rigid fork and better shifters for my 90s Rockhopper.

Currently feels too clunky for my liking with gripshift and front suspension. Also tempted by converting it to a 1 x setup so any parts for that would be interesting too!

Pretty sure I have some 1993 DX shifters - the under bar thumb and forefinger finger type, I assume 7 or 8 speed.

That looks the same as my 97' Rockhopper. Mine had rigid forks though.
