Ribble 853 Frame number

Hi,

I am intrigued to find out more aboutmy ribble 853 frame. the frame number starts with WF98Exxxx.

i am guessing the frame was made in May 1998 (98 = 1998, A=Jan… E=May)
i think xxxx is a sequence number i suspect.

the question is what does WF signify, other ribble frames have a prefix containing the initials if the sub-contractor who actually made the frame.

anyone guess who WF is?

i did realise tha Holdsworth where named W.F. Holdsworth, might this be a frame manufactured by holdsworths?

Ribble did farm out a lot of the more exotic tube frame builds to builders that had license to use those materials by the manufacturer.
Frank Herety did quite a few and will be stamped with an FH in the ser. So search for frame builders with WF. Might be as you suggest but these Ribble specials were in low numbers usually.
