RetroBike in decline?

Well I'm glad it's being discussed at least.

I once made an awkward comment that I have more friends on here than 'real' friends. I immediately regretted saying that out loud but those rb friends are now the far more genuine 'real' ones!.

When referring to facebook do we mean "retrobikes" official page or something else?

I wonder the same. I don't spend much time on FB but can't seem to find much RB content.

Cheers for the update Ped, that makes more sense now.

Re:

I don't think there is an official RB Facebook - although some area groups have their own and they seem popular - I'm thinking mostly of the Golden Era group, which has a lot of big names from back in the day posting hourly it seems! Dave Hemming and Jez Avery in particular.

Re:

For clarity, 'other Facebook pages are available', but what I'm referring to are things like Vintage And Retro MTB Sales, UK MTB/CX Trader, Buy And Sell Cycling Stuff In The South West, etc.

Mostly closed groups where you have to request membership, from what I can tell the first one I mention in particular is run by a member off here, and certainly there are a lot of people from here on pages like that. Variety is the spice of life, and all that

Talking of Facebook, I posted an Arundel Loop ride there last year, to hopefully get even more people out. Lots' of interest, but only one extra bum on a seat. Albeit a friendly bum, good to see you, Klein Mad Chris!
Mike

I've always tried to make this ride. Thought they had stopped. Don't do FB or other. Im on for summer off road rides via this site. Notice the South East has gone very quite.

What it really needs is a clear out of the AWOL mods and a some new blood
Yeah ... about that ...

I know full well that I'm barely on here anymore. That's why I resigned in November, so that someone else could take over 98+ and G&OT.
Apparently I'm still a mod, I just don't have the badge under my name anymore. Haven't heard or read anything about a replacement either.
So yeah, I can't help it.

Oh well, at least that allows me to clean up the spam if I encounter some on the occasional visit.

Who appoints MOD's and AEC's ?
Apart from the Yorkies and Mac's it seems that very few if any AEC's are organising rides. I joined RB to ride with like minded folk but I've only been on 3 rides one organised by Mr Muz, one organised by the Yorkies and one by myself not a great deal I know but had I still been down south I would have rode a lot more of Mike's outings and as for the Yorkies its often to far to travel.
I have plenty of time on my hands and I'm happy to organise rides (currently on my second and I will continue to put on more rides up here in the Northwest) but apart from the faithful I don't expect much support due to the constrains of life and distance, but it would be nice for more riders in the area to show some support I mean what are bikes for riding or looking at.

In summary:

- Everything goes in cycles (excuse the pun). The site is at the tail-end right now.
- The site is just one part of a world-wide interest; there's a stack more information and people out there than just here and thinking otherwise is narrow-minded.
- Other channels are useful but none of them are effective in isolation; this site is no different.
- You put in what you get out. As alluded in many cases, if you're willing to invest time (and money) into this or the area's then kudos; you will get the rewards with enough graft.

I know I am in decline...

Will be riding again this year and will probz re-launch the September Peaks ride, just for old time's sake.
