Yep, tis a re-release, but still retro in my book as it still has the same suspension & set up, so still handles the same as the original. It meets my requirements for the RC car I wanted many moons ago.
definitely retro
i wasn't having a pop, just making an observation
i race 8th scale rallycross but about 18 months ago one of the guys who runs an 8th scale size dirt track said he'd put on a one off tenth scale meeting!
well me & my buddy that i race with regularly both had Hotshots BITD so we said we'd buy rerelease Hotshots & race them against the modern stuff
well with boys being boys we looked into it a little deeper realising this possibly wasn't the best idea & bought the latest associated incarnation of the RC10 the B4 which eventually led us into buying 4 wheel drive buggys as well!
actually i'm really glad we did as indoor electric racing is the bollox during the winter
we're actually off to Belgium in about 3 weeks to race in a big GP meeting which should be good
never raced electric outside before so it will be nice to see just how fast these modern brushless systems can go with room to stretch their legs
unfortunately i actually gave all my Tamiya stuff away about 4 years ago to somebody who was into it
there was a Hotshot a Boomerang a Manta Ray & a bigwig!
strangely i'm not that nostalgic about my old RC stuff although i still have masses of Tenth Technology Predator stuff including 2 of the carbon fibre tub chassis & loads of parts (almost 3 complete cars worth)
they are almost a work of art, just so different to everything else
thinking about it i have loads of good condition electric motors that would be a worthwhile upgrade from the silver can mabuchi the kits come with
pm me if interested
these range from mild 27 turn stockers to 19 turn plus a few modifieds
down to 7 turn i think
be careful though as a std speed controller couldn't handle the current a low turn mod would draw!
the 19's & 27's would be fine
actually i do have spare no limit speed controllers if somebody wanted to build a very fast car
just found a vid of the A final of one of the meetings we have at Newbury during the winter! crossover jumps, low grip drift sections, high grip carpet, big air tabletop! its all there
how quick off the start
