Should I wear it on a RB meet?
Wow Ned, you were a style icon! Are those alpinestars 'Wild Thing' shoes also? A must wear at the next meet!

A Style Icon!! - are you on something  Mrs Ned says I look ridiculous (or something similar but less polite, it rhymes with 'cat').

The shoes are the Caratti ones, similar to the Alpinestars but possibly more readily available at the time? I would wear them but the cleats are very worn and won't come out of the sole and can jam into the pedals so not very safe to wear!

A Style Icon indeed! I don't know whether to laugh or cry  :? :D

EDIT - just realised it was the same day as your pic! Mine was in the Vets race.

Mine was the youth race but I'm definitely closer to the vets now
Just grind the heads off the cleat bolts and they'll soon pop off, that's what I have to do at the end of every cross season !

great pic of sam humphrey. the last time i saw him he was on the same team as me caratti/gt.
love to know what he's doing now.

I don't think it's worth trying to save the shoes, they're to far gone! I only keep them for old times sake.

I think we (Blazing Saddles from near Wakefield, not the later ones from somewhere in Lancs?) had a couple of riders in Juniors and Sports, not sure about Youth. I remember it was a good sporting course, dry with no 'silly' bits, virtually all rideable.

Is it used now?

I seem to remember there was one long drag up the back (possibly where your photo was taken) but yeah, all rideable.
I did a few mtb races there early 90's and also a couple of cross races but nothing since so don't know if it's still used or not.

Sam Humphrey was deffo a hero of mine...he came over and said hello at the Malverns Classic 1991 as I was riding the same bike as him (Trek 8500), I was in awe at the time...weird cause I was the same age as him...funny what seeing people in vids and magazines can do to a kid..
