Retro Oakleys

Hey guys thanks for all the replys!

azaro - you have a PM on it's way ;)

S8-Tom - thanks for the offer but I'll have to pass as I'm only really looking for pretty good condition examples.

That review site looks pretty good.. I reckon I could get lost in there for a while!

I really wish I'd been more careful with all my Oakleys over the years then I would already have a pretty darn sweet collection.

This all started with a chance conversation with a mate about old Oakley styles and he couldn't picture the Sub Zero's! That got me thinking I really need to find a pair as they were hands down my fave riding glasses in the mid 90's. Then I started thinking of others I would like to own and keep as a collection. Eyeshades, Original M Frames (obviously), Eyejackets, E Wires etc. I always had a thing for the Cheetah/Leopard Eyejackets (don't ask me why I was young) but never owned a pair, then I found 2 pairs on the bay a few weeks back but went riding and missed out on them!

So yeah I'm starting a collection and hope to add to it over the years. I want to do my bit to make sure these awesome works of design are not lost to history!

Gave my M-frames to my brudda. . . going to try and tax them back this year (along with his Patriot ;) )

I was the same a few years back, but it got (a) a bit silly and (b) very expensive...

And then by chance I came across a pair of quite possibly the rarest oakleys Ill ever find (well two pairs but one I bought and sold the other to a collector in the US)

http://www.o-review.com/glassesdetail.asp?ID=863

after that I couldnt see the point as I wasnt goingto better those - still got a lot of snowboarding gear, mx goggles etc... at the time it was built to way beyond any specification around, but now unfortunately most of the stuff is no better than topshop...

Love the x-metals and juliets - the last good things they made...

Not sure what the whole story is but theyre Ichiro Suzuki (a baseball player by all accounts) model, I think they were all ready to go some were shipped out to dealers (less than 50 pairs by all accounts) and then he decided he didnt like them and had them all recalled! There were only three pairs in the UK - Ive got one, one I sent back to the US (for nearly twice what I paid for them  ) and the last set the guy that bought them lost his job and gave them to his (at the time) landlord in leau of rent and never saw them again!

They are awesome mate..

The original Romeos are flawed from a design pov. . the frame flexes around the lens and cracks it.. I'm a bit loathe to replace the lenses when they're just going to crack again :(

My juliets are plasma/fire.. they could do with new lenses too (and I'm trying to ignore it but my 24k's have a tiny mark on one lens.... :( )

thats the reason mine only come out about twice a year now - Theres no stock to replace anything I break, and with two littluns under 2 in the house theyre safely locked away

Shame really because they are the best, loved the fire red lenses, those with carbon frames are amazing... and if you can find them Hi Blue (whcih are almost yellow to look at :? ) are incredible...

i have oakley wires for sale with gold/ orange lenses any good?

if you wnat to know which ones send me your e-mail address.

I have a pair of cobalt / red iridium eye jackets (14+ years old) and raw / ice iridium hatchets :)

Anyone know about the raw frames ? I got them from the USA and all the ones they had boxed were coated / painted frames - the ones from the display cabinet (which I got them to sell me) are uncoated metal complete with flow marks etc from manufacture ?

WD :)
