I would recommend a different bike if you've got one. This area is very sandy and as its wet it will destroy the bearings on the AMP in no time at all. I've got an AMP suspended bike and I only wheel it out in this area in the dry. The plus side is that it drains well up there.

Thanks for heads up. Unfortunately I've already arrived in Horsham so stuck with the AMP. I'll see how it goes.

The Surrey slurry is pretty abrasive....

Really great day. Thanks chaps....respect for that Surrey slurry. No rear brake by the end, shock kaput, Strava gave up for the final push....and they accuse southerners of being soft. Ha I say!

That was a great way to spend a Saturday morning! Thanks everyone for attending and for the additional route advice.

We were right lucky with the weather - I think it spat at us for about 5 minutes and I felt quite good cleaning the bike in the rain when I got home. Absolute chucking down now!

I'll try to get some useable footage from the videos into a short video and get it on the 'Tube. Any recommendations for music I could use that is free from copyright? If not I'll try to knock something up.

Cheers all, it was a good ride.

The King Kahuna is not in good shape - the threaded bottom repair sleeve has parted company with the frame :shock: The reason it came loose is that whole BB had started to slide sideways out of the frame! It looks like replacing the bottom bracket shell is the only option now. Damn.
