Retro-modern fusion gravel build madness. The new Superb!

Just for laughs, here's my attempt at lug lining using a "spare" frame.

Doesn't quite fall under "superbe", so I will probably abandon this daft idea.

Can't believe you've just "ruined" that spare frame 😁
Not that I've ever tried but I think there's three ways of lug lining, paint the surface of the tube, the edge surface of the lug or the wrong way 😆

Still a few problems to solve, but I can confirm that the frame fits 47mm slicks + guards :D

And frogglegg cantis fit the frame, although it's yet to be found out how good the braking is going to be.
Will punch the numbers into the calc for now.

One of the newly identified problems is that the French must have had their own standard for brake boosters in 1950s.
Standard tektros don't fit - out by about 5mm each stud.

Options:
1) Stick the alloy booster into a vice and hope that I can close it by 10mm - unlikely.
2) Buy some 3-4mm thick alloy plate and saw/drill my own.
3) Come up with an elaborate design and get it laser cut, but there's usually a minimum order fee of £75. If there's enough people who want self-designed boosters, I'm happy to try & help.

Looks like it will be hacksaw & drillium time.

Brake booster.... 😂 Unless they're forged don't bother! Pointless things.you want stays to give a bit....that's called modulation 👍

You can't be serious with a brake booster?

You may run into an interesting issue if those bosses are not far enough apart for a too wide rim with the brakes you are using.

You can't be serious with a brake booster?
You mean can't be serious expecting it to have any effect on braking?
No, no, it's just for the looks 🤪 "

Might have to make my own then 😭

I've checked the froggos and they do fit. I am only getting 0.7 mechanical advantage from the brakes though (!) according to the calculator. So reducing the sponginess might come in handy.
Per the article I've posted earlier, I want my brakes between 4 and 9 of mechanical advantage from levers and calipers combined.

Re-calculated the mech advantage and I'm getting ~ 1.4 so all should be good. (5 at levers + 1.4 at calipers)
At the end of the day the froggos must be a close copy of the original mafacs.
