Just realised I never got back to you about that Mavic stem.

But looking at the amount of work you're putting in to this, the stem would be wrong anyway - it's too modern.

Only right stem for this build is a Cinelli 1-R.

What I've got so far...

It has simplex friction shifters, mavic s.s.c. cranks and headset, mavic ssc brakes (several pairs to get just the right parts) mavic 430 brake levers (still looking for new hoods, these are a bit yellowed) and a 610 bottom bracket. Found a mavic bar model 351. Mavic front & rear derailleur, Selle San Marco saddle.

I've bought a pair of NOS mavic hubs and am still looking for a pair of suitable rims to lace them to. Chain and shifter cables are on the way!

Weinmann brakes, Simplex gears and seatpin, Maillard/Spidel hubs and pedals, Stronglight 107 chainset, Cinelli bars and stem.

However, Sean Kelly rode the same frame (as a Vitus) but with Mavic parts.
