I don't think ice, or CO2/hairdryer can be classed as traumatising to a steel frame.
2 reasons for trying not to replace the tube:
1. The tube is Dedachai teardrop shaped so non-standard profile.
2. Argos charge £90, plus painting for a Reynolds round tube.
If the CO2 doesn't work, I'll leave as is, touch up with paint and the Mrs can ride it as is.
