to be used fella, wouldnt waste my time and effort otherwise, i expalained to the welders it needs to be used and they have said it will work fine, i work at the engineering dept at cambridge university and the engineneers ive asked said it will work fine.

if it breaks well it breaks!

Doug, how bad was the crack?

Reckon your boys would be able to do something with my non drive-side RSR?!

Has a hairline crack across the BB end - not spread through to tapers.

Would be lovely to get them up and running again...!

The cranks look great BTW!

its good practise to cut out the crack as far as possible so that you can fill it with filler rod. this will give a stronger join, just welding over a crack will have no strength at all. it will never be as strong as it was from billet, but if you tread carefully, it should be ok?
