Refurb advice/opinion

Hi, I am considering getting my 1996 specialized Rockhopper re-sprayed. My dilemma is what colour, match the original colour or something a bit different. It has a few improvements anyway (carbon handle bars, suspension forks, saddle) so is a little way from original.
Is it likely to be worth more in original colour (not that I plan to sell)?
I am torn between having it back in its original red, but without the chips or looking a bit different, with specialized decals but bright cherry red for example.
Just wondered what u guys think.

Rockhoppers (like most bikes) are mass-produced and are unlikely ever to command special prices, so my view is paint it in whatever colour you like.

As other people on here say, every scratch etc tells a story, you'll regret re-painting it...
