Howdy folks :)

Having to arrange pickup for a new retro steed from down south...

Can you shed light on who I should use?

Obviously cost is one thing, but reliability and it turning up in one piece is of importance too!

All advice gladly received and greatly appreciated! Cheers

Re:

Both senditnow.com and paisleyfreight.com get regular thumbs up when the question is asked :) Personally never used paisleyfreight but use senditnow with little or no problems (only problem I've ever had is a delayed delivery when it went to the wrong depot.

Re:

I may be wrong, but I thought I had heard that Paisley Freight had changed all their acceptable dimensions, weights, etc, making it very difficult to now send whole bikes through them.... :?

I don't use them Kaz, but they are still advertising that they will ship a bike for £23.50

Re:

Cheers for the pointers so far!

Finding senditnow's pricing great but sizing (1.5m/3m inc girth!) confusing/borderline (though could go 'large' I suppose?!) as I won't be packaging the bike so can't control that I guess!

Will check out paisleyfreight too now as like you say they have dedicated bike pricing :)

Have to say though, regardless, thank you so much for such rapid feedback!!!

You guys are the best :D

Re:

I sent a whole bike packaged down quite small (small bike!) with Yodel through work recently but I suspect that was treated as a 'business' package and I may have got a deal. If you don't have control of the way it's packed then it's tricky, but you could perhaps suggest to the seller that they find a local business to send it through....?

Presume though from what you say that you have to arrange the courier to pick it up off them at home...and they probably don't want any hassle!

You got it! Perfectly put

Paisley need it in a box but I don't think that's going to be the case - looking more like bubble wrap/mummification I think :| I'm sure the guy will wrap it well, I just don't want the couriers to refuse it nor give the chap any hassle over packing!

Thanks again!

Re:

If he's going to that much trouble to 'mummify' it, might be worth politely suggesting to him that he pops into Halfrauds where they will willingly give him a box for nothing.... ;)

By the way, where 'down south' is it located...?

I'd say senditnow have gone downhill in the last few months.

1. Next day delivery took four days before they attempted it. It was just sitting at a depot for nearly 3 of those.

2. The next time I used them, they sent the parcel to Oxford rather than Liverpool sorting depot. But they did make up for it a bit by delivering on Saturday.
