Grannygrinder Retrobike Rider Gold Trader Feedback View Sep 26, 2009 #13 . I usually run 1.95-2.10 tyres. For very muddy conditions would I be looking at a wider or narrower tyre? I was under the impression that a narrower tyre was what was needed, but opinions seem to state otherwise

ekiborter Retro Guru Feedback View Sep 28, 2009 #18 +1 for the Panaracer Trailraker. thinner tyres are generally the answer for propper slushy mud as they sink in a bit deeper and find the rock/gravel at the bottom. IIRC alot of people used to run a larger front tyre in muddy conditions to help 'float' the front end over the mud.... (not sure if it works) personally I'm a 1.8 tyre man come rain or shine on the hardtail both front and rear. if only I could get a trailraker in a 1.35 I'd be a happy boy. ;]
