Reaming seatpost tube for dropper post?

Funnily enough, one of the bigger brands of dropper posts was originally a manufacturer of office chairs, I believe.

I'm pretty sure I've seen a lad on here got a 27.2 dropper down to 27.0

He rigged up some kind of sandpaper fleshlight, then attached his seatpost to a drill and went at it... or something. Worked pretty well from memory but not sure the wall thickness of a seatposts master shaft would tolerate much more than 0.2mm taken off.
At this diameter the amount of material used might be pretty minimal to fit internals in there. Never seen a bent dropper post though. Could be a first!
 
I made a dropper post once. It was the height adjustable handlebars from a kids scooter, with a spring inside. Used shim steel to make it for the frame.
It worked well until I bent the inner post.
