Re-Issue Zaskar Build

Having discs is wrong:(

sorry, (and i do like gt)...but this doesnt seem to "shine" like they used to.. :?..the understated looks what the zaskar was about for me.
Built for a job and not for posing in town with.

wonder what the tyres are??

Panaracer's This is a MBUK project bike.

I have one of these coming and I'm knocking of the disc mounts and cable stops and adding some Moots style mounts on the rear stays for U-brakes.
That way the only thing that will be retro is the frame with its integrated headset. It should look great built up with old parts along side the two 91 Zaskars that I already have stored in the attic.

Thats a great bike, well-specced with some high end and very exclusive kit, I would imagine those brakes are a pretty limited run, if not one-offs.

Its a perfect compliment to the original Zaskar and they've certainly made a better fist of it than Specialized did with the Stumpjumper replica. MBUK have fitted it out with kit that makes it rideable today, arguably up there with the best hardtails.

gm1230126, Anybody that spends $1000 on one of them and then "knocks of the disc mounts and cable stops and adds some Moots style mounts on the rear stays for U-brakes." has lost the plot. Why do that? Why not just buy an original U-braked frame for $70? Would you buy a Ferrari and rip out all the modern parts to turn it into a classic? All you're doing is destroying a limited edition frameset. I just don't understand why somebody would spend all that cash on one of these and then fit 15 year old components.... madness.

Speedplay, you're saying that Discs are wrong? This is a modern bike, built to be ridden by modern riders on modern trails. Looks pretty well built for the job to my eyes.

This is a controversial bike isn't it!

It really shouldn't be a controversial bike, it's just a really nice Modern GT that is celebrating the true success of the original Zaskar.

I think that it is awesome.. :D

Looks like a re-hash of a 20 year old xc race bike to me, has xc changed that much too?

And it does need flat bars and bar ends ;)

one small problem they cost £699 frame only they said they where making them in america they then made them in tiwan while still saying they where made in america (very naughty) the decal's where not fitted correctly and the over all good was ok not perfect like the price sort of make's you think it will be   so so so wrong why cos there corparate   standards just arn't the same as they used to be ;)
