Re anodising cranks?

Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone has ever had any cranks re anodised?

I have a set of cook bros e cranks in a well faded purple colour, I was looking at getting them polished and re anodised in mango/ orange.

Looking for any recommendations of anodisers? How much should I be looking to pay?

Cheers Matt.

Hi Matt

I've had several cranks reannodized. The key to saving some money is ensuring you have stripped and polished them to a high luster which minimizes the labor for the anodizer. It also helps if you have several pieces to be done in the same color which helps to spread the cost over a piece price if you can find others in need of the color and the timing is right. Check with Rampage on this site. Also, there are several posts on stripping but be careful not to exceed the recommended exposure time of aluminum to the chemical which can have negative effects on the structure. I use Greased Lightening degreaser and polish them out with a drill and buffer using Mothers Aluminum Polish.

Re:

Agree with above. If you get 4/5+ items done at the same time as well as the cranks, expect to pay around £40ish + shipping both ways.

many of these parts were reano'd simultaneously to ensure a consistent color match. The Moby was used as the control.

Cheers for the info guys, not looking forward to all the polishing.

Unfortunately I really only need the crank arms doing!

Anyone got any places they can recommend?

I see. The only other anodizers I use are located here in the US. I'm sure Rampage or someone with a source will be along. Good luck getting it knocked out.

Try RBUK member Rampage as suggested.

Think hes given up the game. I use A1 Anodising in Crawley or Acorn Plating in Sandhurst.
