Best way to refurb M900 cranks without polishing

I assume your going for clear ceramic over a repolish? Im my experience the clear is not as tough as the colours....also the non baked version us not as durable as the baked on....

I have a lot of stuff ceramic coated and most is clear over a colour as it ups the shine a bit and adds another layer of protection.

I do wonder if the cranks were tumbled prior to anodising in the factory, rather than full polish....it seems a lot of work for a mass produced item to polish to that level before anodising.....as i said above.

The clear is mc-5100 we get done. Bjt you would need to get the brightness and finish of the metal under it to the level you require as its a simple chemical clean and spray on finish.

Not sure which way to go yet.

I’ve a few pairs of M900 cranks to try different methods but also don’t want to keep chucking money at a losing game.

My thought is to go with a clear ceramic over the polished crank. The guy says that will dull the polish down a bit.

I've polished a few cranks including M900 and M730. Nice thing with M730 ones is the "Shimano" logo is embedded vs the silk screened (I'm guessing) XTR logo.

In my polishing choices evolution I've found that after polishing I can go back with a 3M 3000 grit rectangular sponge type buffing product which bring down the mirror finish. More of a satin finish. I like it better, went back and dulled down all of my polished cranks this way.

One idea for you I guess. It would be great if someone would produce the SHIMANO XTR logo as just the letters in a kind of water applied decal but all I've found so far are small decals with a clear background which I agree do not look ideal.

Here's one of mine that as been polished and then dulled down to more of a satin finish, I'm satisfied with the outcome:

Do you have a link to the pad you used to dull them down?

3 sets back from the polisher.

Logos added on all 3.

1 set is going to be experimented on with ceramic

1 set I’m keeping for the time being until the ceramic ones come back

1 set is going up for sale to try to recover some of the outlay

Whilst I was putting the logo on the cranks. We also did a pair of M900 brakes too.

The logo on the brakes turned out great, I know your laser guy was concerned about the curved surface - but these look really good IMO!
