What is there to look out for with these? Bad threads a problem? Does the underside of the end of the steerer look right? How im/possible is it to get a longer 1" steerer? Price OK? I saw a slightly later pair go for £275.
I'm thinking about them...I'll probably wake up and they'll be gone...!

They're still there as of time of this post. Those look like they're in decent condition -- I have a pair with chromed legs which are peeling and consequently look a bit tatty.

Pace cycles themselves still sell steerers on their website - although I note the price! … am sure have seen steerers on this site & ebay also. Thing to note is steerer tube should be fitted with a circlip beneath crown to prevent it pulling through.

The f/s look really nice , I have some in original condition with original Pace iridescent logo’s - no idea if those are still available ? A friend has recently restored some for his Overburys Pioneer , and is v.pleased with them.

Did you wake up and they were yours?

Iirc the steerer is a straight tube with a groove for a cirlip - so not difficult to make.
The crown race seat is a separate, reusable aluminium piece.

Ha! Sometimes one wakes up having drunk ale the night before to find an Ebay purchase has been made! I had no ale, and no, I didn't pull the trigger over the bowl of oats this morning (when they were still available)!

As much as I would have liked them, they would have looked well swish on the Merlin, I should have a Christmas bonus coming, I woke up and thought nope - I'd be spending more to sort the steerer and I have some P2 on-hand which will sadly need shortening to about 21cm - they have a monster steerer. Perhaps they'll surface here somewhere?
