Yes, I always expect to see more classic british lightweights in the running. But, I totally missed that one. Rather nice. And it beat off some stiff Italian competition. Everyone does go mad for a Hetchins!

Agree about classic British lightweights, as they never do well on here I don't enter. However Hetchins is very predictable, and they're not that good: Higgins are the connoisseurs frameset.

Holy crap for a second there I thought you men't my Raleigh then!

For your info the Shimano 600AX group-set was not anodised and came straight from the manufacturer in a raw state polished parts.

Only the chain-rings was anodised and the cranks was painted 'silver' :roll:

Well my Italian machinery gets ridden a lot, thanks. Oh, and I don't polish it neither, that's bordering on the obsessive.

I don't know wether it's overrated or not, but it rides nicely and I like the look of it, which is the important thing for me.

Also there were four British bikes in that competition and the last two competitions were won by British bikes. Also if you don't enter your British bikes I can't see what grounds you have to complain about the lack of them on the podium.

Well not quite. It takes all type of machine to make a forum. I simply don't care much for foreign machines. I don't get excited about Italian stuff at all, although I have seen a handful of machines on here which do interest me from that part of the cycling world. Most I have seen look to hermetically sealed in time... I love good quality English bicycles and make no bones about it.

I'm all for eclecticism, but let's have more quality hand made British steel with a back story and no more auction purchases or, I wanted one of these when I was 12, grey porridge.

It can be serious and fun.
